The Woolhouse taking shape and under way

RESERVATIONS NOW OPEN

The developers behind Hexham’s luxury apartment development, The Wool House, which is under construction on the former swimming pool site in Gilesgate, have agreed prices on a selection of apartments.

The upper floors of the development command spectacular views over the Tyne Valley, the Abbey and the town centre and at the formal launch of the scheme in mid-May, there was a huge amount of interest from potential buyers in apartments at this level.

Much of the interest is from people who are looking for a rural retreat or are considering the Wool House as their forever home, so as well as seeking comfort and a prime location, they are looking for properties with maximum appeal, particularly a beautiful view.

In this regard, The Wool House does not disappoint, which is why the first apartments are likely to sell for between £450-£525k. Those on the lower floors are likely to go for upwards of £155k for a one-bedroom studio apartment and around £250k-£400k for two bedrooms.

Of added benefit is the on-site parking, which is available by separate negotiation and the private  communal garden.  In fact, plots 18 and 19 have access to their own patio/garden area, while the entire site benefits from a gated entrance, making The Wool House a safe and secure place to live.

Agent for the scheme is YoungsRPS. Kim Harrison, director, has a long waiting list for would-be buyers who are keen for more information on pricing.  She said:

“It is extremely difficult right now for developers and indeed anyone involved in construction, to know from one week to the next how much materials are going to cost and even if they are going to be available – especially those that are imported.

“It is anticipated that the apartments will be ready for occupation by next summer, so as you can imagine, trying to predict the price of materials and supplies that far ahead is impossible.

“Also, it is important to remember that an apartment scheme like this cannot be released for sale in phases like a housing development. It is ready for occupation all at once because we cannot have occupiers in one part of the building while major building work is ongoing elsewhere.”

Director of The Wool House, Bob Skelly, added:

“We wanted to bring some peace of mind to interested parties and as there has been such strong interest in the apartments, we felt it was a good idea to fix costs on some for those who wish to reserve early which they can do with a reservation fee of £1,000.

“This means that for anyone who reserves now, we will guarantee pricing until the Autumn, at which time, we may have to consider a price increase depending on the availability and cost of materials.

“The Wool House is unique within the immediate area – there is no other development like it in Cumbria or Northumberland – and for this reason, there is a great deal of interest.  We are keeping in regular contact with everyone on the database with an e-newsletter, so if anyone is interested in finding out more but is not yet on the database, please call YoungsRPS to register your details.”

  • The Wool House offers a choice of forty-five one and two-bed apartments, duplexes and penthouse apartments over six floors in seven repeated styles throughout the development as well as thirteen special one-off apartment layouts providing a superb choice for buyers.

Floors one to five feature a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, some with French doors and Juliet balconies. Others have patios or terraced areas. On floor six are the penthouse apartments, which all benefit from superb views across the valley, or of Hexham Abbey and the town centre.

Access to The Wool House is through a boutique hotel-style lobby entrances off both Gilesgate and Haugh Lane with comfortable seating and planters.
