The team at the launch event

The luxury apartment building, The Wool House, on Gilesgate, was formally launched on Wednesday 18 May, at the Beaumont Hotel, to an invited guest list who had been eagerly awaiting further news on the development since construction work started on the site some months ago.

With the multi-level nature of the site and the need to undertake careful civil engineering works, together with the outbreak of Covid and more recently hold ups in the supply of building materials, the formal launch had been unavoidably delayed.

On the day however, over thirty interested parties visited the exhibition, with more than thirty others who were unable to attend, requesting information to be sent on to them.

Three representatives from the selling agent, YoungsRPS, led by Kim Harrison, were in attendance to provide further information.  Brochures, floor plans and information on apartment types were all made available, and the website is now live: www.thewoolhouse.co.uk

Kim said: “The most commonly asked questions related to pricing, the expected opening of the show apartment and dates for the overall completion of the scheme as well as information about the internal layouts, parking arrangements, future building management and the choice of kitchens and bathrooms.

“Those who are on our mailing list will be kept up to date with any news and we aim to send out regular bulletins.  We have all the marketing materials available in our office for those who would like printed copies, but they are also available to download from the website.”

Commenting on the event, Bob Skelly, director of Hexham Wool Warehouse, the development company behind the scheme, said: “We were very pleased with the reaction we received with the penthouse apartments a particular draw.  Without exception everyone was delighted by what they saw.

“Pricing was the word on everyone’s lips, but with the well-known and much publicised increase in the cost of supplies, we can only currently give a rough guide to costs per square foot until later in the year when we will be able to achieve more clarity.

“We have experienced a great deal of interest in the apartments and will hold another event later in the summer when we open the show apartment.  Until then, potential buyers should speak to our agent for more information or sign up to our mailing list so that they can be sure they get updated information as soon as it becomes available.”

Kim continued: “The Wool House offers a choice of forty-five one and two-bed apartments, duplexes and penthouse apartments on six floors and with views across the Tyne Valley or the town towards Hexham Abbey, it looks set to be an extremely popular scheme.

“Quite simply, there is no other development like it in Northumberland, let alone Hexham, because it combines a superb location in the heart of a bustling market town and offers a high specification of build and finish with a wide choice of accommodation. It also has the added benefits of on-site parking and private gardens.

“We are really excited to be involved in such a fabulous scheme, which will make a major contribution to the choice of housing on offer in and around the town.”

The Wool House show apartment should be open by end of September, the costs of the individual apartment types should be agreed by September/October and the overall development will be complete at around Easter 2023.
